Occasionally, disputes arise about who is entitled to register a domain name. For such disputes, the .nu domain name employs the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy – UDRP, which is a policy prepared by ICANN for handling domain-name disputes.
UDRP was used for handling .nu domain-name disputes prior to The Swedish Internet Foundation taking over the administration and operation of the .nu top domain. The Swedish Internet Foundation has elected to continue using UDRP since it comprises an established model for dispute resolution and to avoid any major changes in conjunction with taking over the .nu top domain. Read more about UDRP here.
The dispute resolution process under UDRP
If you believe that someone else has registered a domain name to which you are entitled, you have the right to appeal the allocation of this domain name by turning to one of the organizations approved by ICANN for processing cases under UDRP.
